NANG LUMUHA ANG MGA TALA SA GITNA NG LAWA written by Arthur P. Casanova

FINALS: DIRECTING II
Under Paul Alexander Morales
May 22-23, 2018

Set before the year 1972 (before the declaration of Martial Law), the play was written based on true accounts of Muslim Filipinos’ struggles during the existence of Ilaga and Blackshirts. They are Christian farmers militant group who migrated from northern part of the Philippines and settled in Mindanao after the declaration of the Philippine government that Mindanao is a “Land of Promise”. The struggles between the Ilagas, Blackshirts, and the Muslim community had rooted from the land grabbing issues of the immigrant groups; thus leaving many religious structures burned and destroyed, hundreds of murders both recorded and forgotten in the history books, and conflicts between Muslim and Christian Filipinos.
